My God Encounter

On February 14, 2009, I attended an unplanned church service for college students which led to me making a decision that would change my life forever.  That night, I participated in a commitment ceremony making a vow to God to abstain from sex until marriage. Once the ceremony ended temptation began instantly; and I quickly realized the only “guidance” I would receive for my journey was being told to pray. For years I struggled with “close calls” but was determined to keep my vow to God. It was during this time I began to make notes of specific guidelines, behaviors, and basic rules that needed to be followed in order for me to maintain my abstinence.

As the years passed I often learned from my own mistakes and challenges but longed for a mentor or support group that had more experience with abstinence than myself. I did find other like-minded people trying to abstain from sex until marriage; but they all started to look to me for guidance. This ignited the initial idea for Pursuing Purity but the start of my new career would be the change that birthed the organization.

Birthing Pursuing Purity

I started a position in community corrections that required me to be trained in addiction treatment and certified in therapeutic techniques and curriculums used for cognitive reconstruction. I began to apply these techniques to the areas I struggled with in my thinking as it related to purity. God began to download lesson plans and ideas combining my personal guidelines, with cognitive techniques, biblical teachings; and scriptures. God continued to show me visions and dreams of how I could use this knowledge to help anyone pursuing purity/abstinence.

Three years later I was released to launch Pursuing Purity on February 14, 2021; a date that holds great significance; my 12 year purity anniversary. The biblical meaning of the number 12 is considered a perfect number of completeness that symbolizes God’s power and authority while serving as a perfect foundation. Jesus chose 12 disciples to follow him and he does nothing out of coincidence. Pursuing Purity is authorized by God and will impact the body of Christ. Make sure you’re apart of it.
